Audio and video podcasting are relatively new. This technology makes your periodic publication available on the world wide web in a way that allows your audience to subscribe and automatically receive future issues instantly. Our specialty is video podcasting. We are building a network and your channel can be a part of it! We have one channel now, Video Klamath. Here's how to check it out:
- Use iTunes. We highly recommend this approach. iTunes is your free entrance to a whole new world of online entertainment and information.
- Use the Podcast reader built into your browser or open your feed reader by clicking directly on our RSS Feed. Firefox, for example, allows you to subscribe using 'Live Bookmarks.' It will bookmark our main feed page with sub-bookmarks automatically added every time we publish a new episode.
- Use any of the many podcast aggregators that carry this channel. For example:
- The Pod Lounge a nice layout that will present you our feed and provide pop-up windows to display the videos.
- Podcast Blaster a layout that will present our feed and display the videos on a separate page.
- Podcast Salad a layout that will present our feed, then the individual episode, then display the videos on a separate page.
- Podcast Pickle a layout that will present our feed, then display the videos on a separate page. This aggregator also provides you an opportunity to comment on individual episodes.
- Pyro.TV a simple layout that displays the videos at the top of the contents page. Be sure to rate our channel!
As connection speeds get faster, this technology will gradually replace broadcast television stations. You will eventually be able to play high definition video podcasts on your big screen TV at home or on your iPod wherever you go. You can do that today with lower resolution video. There are financial opportunities - advertisers will need your viewers. The trick is generating a large enough viewership to make your podcast of interest to those advertisers.
